No storms in Miami, but there's rain for the game

Just a quick update: we didn’t experience any of the severe weather in FL; the tornadoes have all been up in the middle of the state.  All we’ve seen down here in Miami is hot & humid weather.  Today, Super Bowl Sunday, we are finally getting the rain they’ve been forecasting. 

We have figured out that we are officially in the Coconut Grove neighborhood of Miami; it is sort of high-end bohemian.  There are lots of ethnic restaurants & bars with really cute outdoor areas, and lots of great window shopping.  We’ve been hanging out in our area and figuring out where we’ll do our last minute laundry and grocery/hardware shopping next week.  It turns out that we’ll have to wait until Feb 8 or 9 for our satellite phone to come in, so we’ll certainly have enough time to visit a sight or two along with our errands.  We did wander a bit further up into Miami on Thursday and Saturday scoping out the attractions.  Riding our bikes around Miami hasn’t been nearly as bad as I thought it would be.  The traffic is so rotten here that folks don’t get a chance to get their speed up, and they rarely have a chance to change lanes, this works out well for us.  This is a great town for car watching; we’ve seen some pretty outstanding and unique cars that turn Reinhart’s head…Ferrari, Bentley, Austin Martin, Lotus…Porsches are downright common and BMWs & Mercedes are like sand on the beach. 

We never got ourselves up to the stadium area and south beach where all of the serious parties and celebrities are.  If it stops raining by early this afternoon, we may still take a ride up there.  The local stations are constantly covering the pre Super Bowl activities, so we can watch on TV what we are missing in person.  We did get to see a beautiful fireworks show on Saturday night from the boat and look forward to seeing whatever we can during half-time tonight.  We’ll update you on our Bahamas plan as soon as it becomes clearer.
