We’ve had a wonderful time this week and now we are preparing to leave the village of Cape Porpoise for an island in the Casco Bay. We spent this week hanging out with the O’Connor family and friends. I hope we didn’t wear out our welcome during their vacation, but they were so much fun to spend time with. We actually got a chance to take a few people out for a sail (another slow sail) and we were really hoping to have another whale encounter, but no such luck. It was a treat for us to have folks on board with us and to go out for a pleasure cruise.
Karen and Kevin Tombs came down from NH on Saturday morning and spent the weekend with us. It’s been so long since we’ve seen them, but it was like no time had passed at all. We spent Saturday biking around the crowded Kennebunkport streets. It started raining overnight and we spent most of Sunday playing Yahtzee inside…Karen won, but we demand a rematch sometime. We also drove up to Saco, ME to check things out. We had a fantastic time and it was sad to watch them drive away.
Today (Monday) is pretty overcast and cool after yesterday’s rain, so it’s a perfect laundry and catch-up-the-blog-day. We are preparing to head north just a bit on Tuesday to an island called Jewell Island in the Casco Bay. If you look at the map, its one of the islands near Portland, Maine, just southeast of Cliff Island. We are sure we won’t have a wireless signal there, but we might have a cell signal. We will stay a day or two and then we will head up to Acadia National Park in the Mt. Desert region of Maine by the weekend.
