Preparing for the next leg

We are getting ready to leave our lovely spot here on Spa Creek in Annapolis. We've been waiting for a good "weather window" for the next leg of our trip and its finally coming. We've enjoyed our long stay in Annapolis though, and feel like locals already. This picture of Maia was taken from the park we are anchored off; we walked on its shady trails and took a dip in the community pool as well.

On Friday we'll head over to the town dock to fill up with water and wash down the boat a bit. We'll anchor another evening closer to the Chesapeake Bay so we can head right out first thing on Saturday morning. We'll make our way north on the Chesapeake Bay, through the Chesapeake-Delaware Canal and down the Delaware Bay to round Cape May, NJ (150 nm altogether). We'll then head offshore 75 degrees for ~300 nautical miles (nm) to get us up around Cape Cod and then 27 degrees for ~200 nm to get us up to Maine. We've got our track headed for Bar Harbor, ME, but we'll probably come into a charming anchorage in Little Cranberry Island, ME.

We are due in Friday, August 11. We'll call Mom and Dad first thing to let them know we are safe...then we'll try to find out where we can find a good wireless signal! The blog will be quiet until then, but look for an update sometime next weekend. In the meantime, feel free to visit our sponsors!
